Many Companies claim to have The Best Truss; however are they really being honest with you and working in your best interest.

Here are 5 simple questions you should ask, when you request a Truss Quote. If you don’t get these questions answered upfront, you may find yourself facing change orders and problems down the road.

Will all the pages of The Architecture/Engineering Plans you provided for the Bid, be shown on the Contract/Proposal? This insures you are getting a Hard Number for what the Architect and/or Engineer designed or intended.

Will Special Conditions, Loadings, Wind Loads and Building Code be shown on your contract/proposal?

Will you be provided with a Preliminary Plan prior to Sealed Plans and Engineering’s?

Will you be provided with Final Truss Plans and Truss Engineering’s for approval prior to fabrication?

Will you accept changes made to your Architect or Engineer’s Plans? Consequently this will cost you money to have your plans revised and re-submitted to the Building Department. If No, than never, ever accept a contract/proposal that states your truss are bid, per the truss company’s layout; make sure bid is based on the Architect/Structural plans provided.

Deco Truss Company has been in Business in 1983, Same Owners & Same Company Name. We are one of the few that can claim this because we do it right and do not play games, with our clients. We can guaranty that the above 5 simple questions, will always be followed by Deco Truss.

Question:

What is the #1 thing to consider when adding a New Pre-Fabricated Wood Truss Addition to Your Current House or Commercial Property?

Answer:

Verify!!! Existing Truss/Rafter Condition Prior to Ordering Trusses. This needs to be done by the contractor or homeowner acting as contractor prior to ordering trusses. Architect does not provide exact measurements, on His/Her plans, because they cannot cut into the existing until job site work starts.

Attached is The Deco Truss Existing Information Cheat Sheet. We require this on all Additions which are matching existing roof.

Failure to verify existing conditions/measurements could result in New Trusses not working properly and /or new trusses being required.

“Measure Twice, Cut Once”

have personally used them in our houses.

Southern Shutter manufactures the finest quality interior shutters available today. The time tested construction methods of Mortise and Tenon are used to craft
Interior shutters that are as strong as they are beautiful.

The interior Movable Louver shutter, available in four louver widths, is perhaps the best constructed interior movable louver shutter made. Utilizing the
heaviest Mortise and Tenon construction in the industry enables Southern Shutter to create large panels that others can’t with dowel construction.

Also what is unique about Southern Shutter’s movable interior line is the UV prime coat process that they employ. The multi coat process gives the smoothest
finish possible allowing the end user to spray paint the shutter without having to sand it.

Call us and will be happy to quote Your New Interior Shutters for You

to Apples. This means insuring that you get the following:

Make sure all the pages of The Architecture/Engineering
Plans that you provided for the Bid, are shown on the Truss Contract/Proposal
from the Truss Company giving you a price. This will insure you are getting a
Hard Number for what the Architect and/or Engineer designed or intended.

Make Sure Special Conditions, Loadings, Wind Loads and
Building Code are shown on your Truss contract/proposal.

Make sure you will be provided with a Preliminary Plans
prior to Sealed Plans and Engineering’s.
This will insure you do not pay for extra engineering fees when The
Truss Engineering is done. Minor changes
always happen and clients should be given the opportunity prior to Final Plans
and Engineering’s.

Make sure you are provided with Final Truss Plans and
Truss Engineering’s for your approval prior to the Truss Company commencing fabrication?
Never allow the Truss Company to fabricate without your approval.

Never accept changes made to your Architect or
Engineer’s Plans, without your approval. Consequently this will cost you money
to have your plans revised and re-submitted to the Building Department.

Is the big rally in lumber futures foretelling a resurgence of U.S. housing construction?

Lumber futures hit their highest levels in almost five years on Tuesday to close at $315.30 per 1,000 board feet.

Unfortunately, the trend remains markedly bearish for housing, new starts and construction activity. Building permits — an indicator for future construction, declined 10% to a 562,000 annual pace in January.

The long awaited recovery in housing and the big bull market that some investors expect, won’t happen any time soon. The only bull market is in foreclosed sales. The government’s home-tax credit, which expired last year, gave a short-term boost to the market but buyers remain elusive as the recovery in jobs and manufacturing is tepid.

Canada, however, is still hot. New starts, existing home sales and commercial property prices remain strong after a brief decline in 2009.

Canadian lumber exports are booming, mainly from British Columbia to China. The Chinese remain Canada’s second biggest export market for lumber and, unlike the United States, tariffs and trade disagreements are never an issue because the Chinese need the supply.

Lumber, along with copper, is usually a pretty good leading indicator of economic activity. But you’ve got to wonder how much of this rally in raw materials has more to do with the Fed’s QE II than underlying demand. By the time June rolls around, we should have a clearer picture. That’s when Bernanke’s latest money-printing blitz draws to an end.
